It gives me great pleasure to announce this: the Castle Tap’s first beer festival. In the six months since the former Horse & Jockey reopened its doors as Reading’s newest real ale and craft beer bar the Castle Tap’s reputation has been steadily growing…
Long lost locals have been returning and by word of mouth the pub is attracting a wide following among the craft beer community all across Reading. It has certainly become a favorite watering hole for local CAMRA branch members including Mr & Mrs Fueled by Beer.
The festival opens next Thursday at 11:00 a.m. and runs through Sunday. Mr Fueled by Beer intends to be there on opening day as early as possible. Already the program looks great: 20+ beers which will include some festival specials.
We know already of two: Sherfield Village Brewing is producing one which Pete is yet to divulge; Wild Weather Ales is producing a brew called Pandora’s Fool that is sure to be amazing. Just look at the blurb on the pump clip.
Every time we’ve visited so far there is yet to be a real ale on the four hand pumps or a craft keg beer on the six taps that we haven’t liked. Can’t wait to see what the Castle Tap does with double the usual amount of beer. 🙂
