Circular Pub Walks: The Leather Bottle at Mattingley

Mattingley is a rural parish in Hampshire located just across the Berkshire border approximately eleven miles south of Reading town centre. This three mile circular walk traverses public footpaths and lanes; and takes in riverside, open fields, woods, a quaint village and mill, and a 15th century church…

The Leather Bottle at Mattingley is a beautiful country pub that dates from 1714. It is a free house and restaurant that serves excellent local ales and fresh cooked food. As a destination and a base for a walk it doesn’t come much better. The walk route is provided by our friends at iFootpath and the pub has incorporated it into their website on the home page.  Distance from the nearest bus stop and infrequent service makes public transport impractical; unfortunately a car is needed to get to and from the pub.
