Wild Weather/NZ Beer Collective Midsummer Christmas Party

Despite pretty miserable weather feeling more like December than the end of July, a decent crowd nevertheless showed up yesterday at Wild Weather HQ for the Midsummer Christmas party. Although Mr & Mrs Fueled by Beer chickened out of taking a gamble with the bus, an intrepid band of West Berkshire CAMRA members do deserve major props for taking the train from Newbury to Aldermaston then hiking across country via Padworth to the brewery…

It was worth it. Wild Weather fielded eight beers, including the launch of their latest collaboration with Yeastie Boys from the New Zealand Beer Collective. And the Collective was further represented with eight more NZ beers specially shipped in to the event by their Antipodean UK Distro, Yvan Seth’s Jolly Good Beer. Here’s the full lineup:

  • Wild Weather – Serendipity Session Pale (3.9% ABV)
  • Wild Weather – Back To The Winchester Red (4.5% ABV)
  • Wild Weather – Don’t Pine For Me Apple Tina Pineapple Gose (5.0% ABV)
  • Wild Weather – Peach Of A Weekend Peach Berliner (5.6% ABV)
  • Wild Weather – Virtual IPA (Collab with Yeastie Boys – 5.7% ABV)
  • Wild Weather – The Tropical IPA (6.0% ABV)
  • Wild Weather – Perun Baltic Porter (7.4% ABV)
  • Wild Weather – Kwantum State Kaffir Lime Saison (7.7% ABV)
  • 8 Wired – Cucumber Hippy Berliner (4.0% ABV)
  • 8 Wired – Semiconductor Session IPA (4.4% ABV)
  • 8 Wired – Flat White Coffee Milk Stout (5.5% ABV)
  • Yeastie Boys – Minimatta Session IPA (4.0% ABV)
  • Yeastie Boys – Gunnamatta IPA (6.5% ABV)
  • Yeastie Boys – Royal Tanninbomb Double IPA (8.0% ABV)
  • Tuatara – Vastafarian – Fresh Hop IPA (5.6% ABV)
  • Tuatara – Mot Eureka NZ Pilsner (5.0% ABV)

Tunes ranging from pop and rock to Motown were spun by Mr Stormbringer himself, Mike Tempest, and food was provided by San Diegan native Laura, whose mobile California Taco has been filling us up with excellent Tacos, Burritos and Quesadilla since we first met her at the Newbury Real Ale Festival back in 2013. A great day out: up yours British summer!!!
