All weekend long, 18-20 August, The Rowbarge will be celebrating the summer with their annual festival. This family-friendly event has something for everyone in an idyllic rural setting beside the Kennet & Avon Canal. For those who must drive there’s plenty of parking. But the best way to come is by train via Reading or Newbury.
Even Londoners can partake: buy an off-peak day return, take any fast train from Paddington, change at Reading for Midgham, and be at the Rowbarge in around one hour. And, besides being a superb place for a summer beer festival, keep in mind that The Rowbarge is also a great year-round venue for circular pub walks, serving as an excellent base from which to start and finish. Two such walks have been provided in this blog here and here.
